http://www.sankakucomplex.com/2010/12/13/tokyo-anime-manga-ban-passes/

Using the same logic that was dismissed when eople were talking about banning grand theft auto, the Japanese equivalent of the Westboro Baptist Church has actually managed to ban anime and manga which "depict crimes" (not even sexual, the law is dangerously vague). What is this world coming to, that all governments consider freedom so dispensable...

Next we have to ban the Bible. That fucked up book is filled with rape, murder, drugs, incest and every kind of atrocities!

So that basically means Akihabara will be a ghetto, and Shinjuku will have a lot less people there strutting their stuff on the weekends.

What do the people of Tokyo think of this? Not everybody is an otaku, but nearly everyone reads manga! Do the people have any say in this? I don't know how internal JP government works.

FUCK YES YOU ARE THE BEST PRIME MINISTER OF ALL TIME

http://myanimelist.net/forum/?topicid=276139

> According to 47 News, Japanese Prime Minister Kan Naoto mentioned the boycott of Tokyo International Anime Fair (TAF) by manga publishers in the official blog and said "It's important to promote Japanese anime to the world as well as to maintain the education of children. I want the people involved to work together to avoid cancellation of TAF."

Japan have many awesome Prime Ministers

Taro Aso:
Aso argues that embracing Japanese pop culture can be an important step to cultivating ties with other countries, hoping that manga will act as a bridge to the world. He is referred to as an Otaku.
"He was also a member of the Japanese shooting team at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal"

Junichiro Koizumi

Koizumi is a fan of Richard Wagner, the Japanese band X Japan
In 2009, Koizumi made a voice acting appearance in an Ultraman feature film, Mega Monster Battle: Ultra Galaxy Legend The Movie, playing the voice of Ultraman King. Koizumi said he took on the role at the urging of his son Shinjiro.

Seriously! I can respect their politics and I'm ashamed of the ones from my country.

Let's not forget that their banned violence in anime and manga, something our goverment will never be able to do.

Also, why just anime and manga? What about TV, movies, and video games. Hell I love violence in all of the, but if your gonna ban violence, which you shouldn't, at least be fair, which they aren't being.

That is a clear indicator of the laws true agenda. It is poorly disquised as "protecting the children", when really, it is. Only an attack on otaku culture.

As for the prime minister, I wouldn't be surprised if he's just trying to regain approval. He's the one who dealt so poorly with the senkaku islands incident. Nobody will listen to a guy with 20% approval, unfortunately...

How about books! Let's ban violent books too!

2 Sam 12:11-14 and Kings 2:23-24 don't apply: rapes are not condoned, and "murder" doesn't extend to illness or bear attacks.

Rebellious offspring to be executed (Lev 20:9 and Deu 21:18-21) are plainly adults, not children.

Deu 22:23-24 is the rule about whether illicit sex is rape or consensual. In neither case is rape condoned. Maybe fornication violating betrothal is a "minor offense."

Ex 21:7-11 and Deu 21:10-14 address sex with female slaves and war captives. Both passages give the woman rights of a wife. But there's no requirement of consent.

That leaves the ethnic cleansing (Midianites, Num 31)) and the wife-stealing (Jabesh-Gilead, Judges 21:10-24). I'll concede rape and child-killing. The women are either killed for no offense at all (as an act of war), or for a major one.

True. It's all just politcal bullshit. I fucking hate politicians because they are liars and cheaters. This isn't about the children. Who do they think they're fooling?

Seems like its the same everywhere. Politicians spew all kinds of bullshit, they think everybody believes them. Nobody ever does, but also nobody does anything about it.
But what I wonder is what is their soooper sekrit reason for attacking the otaku? Really! I mean did an otaku sodomize them as children or something? What did otaku do to them to make them so butthurt? Its not like we come out of our basement long enough to even talk to people. >:|

i mad

They're showing blatant uncensored pornography on tv in Tokyo, and yet they ban heavily censored anime because it's a bad influence? This is insane...

American study reports lower rates of sexua1 crime against minors in countries where virtual SeePea is available.

Quote:

The conclusion of the new study is that ‘artificially-produced’ chi1d p0rn0graphy should be made available to prevent real children being abused.

Common sense question:

Who would be better informed on this subject: University-educated researchers, or populist demagogues with a politic agenda?

It's what I aways said. You can let crazy people attacking real people on the streets or transform them in recluses obsessed with anime/games/hentai jerking of to 2D characters all day. You choose!

Indeed it does. But I really want to know what the average Japanese on the street thinks of it, and what a Japanese otaku thinks of it. He would probably be raging harder about it than we are though. And what about anime and manga companies based in Tokyo hunh? Does this mean they have to up and leave the whole city and find buy/rent a new office in another city or something? This bill seems a little harmful to the local economy.
