Topic: Why NOT to live in Japan.

I'd visit Japan frequently if I could but I would never live there. Here's why: http://kotaku.com/5484581/japan-its-not-funny-anymore

Really? This makes me wonder why vegans in the U.S. live so long...

@187

Vegans don't live longer than the meat eaters, they do have less cardiac problems but their death ratio isn't better than someone who eat meat often.

If you want a diet for your health eat fish!

The Okinawan diet consist of low-fat, low-salt foods, such as fish, tofu, and seaweed. Okinawans are known for their longevity. Individuals live longer on this Japanese island than anywhere in the world. Five times as many Okinawans live to be 100 as in the rest of Japan, and the Japanese are the longest-lived nationality in the world. There are 34.7 centenarians for every 100,000 inhabitants, being the highest ratio in the world. The possible explanations to this fact is the diet, low-stress lifestyle, caring community, activity, and spirituality of the inhabitants of the island.

TL;DR version...

What make vegans live more isn't the diet. It's the lifestyle. If you take non-vegan people with a healthy lifestyle and vegan people with a healthy lifestyle the non-vegan people with healthy lifestyle will have mortality rates as low as vegans or even lower.

the way the japs are going, that's gonna change soon; also the country is mostly old peeps, it will be interesting to see what happens when that generation dies off.

Japan just doesn't seem to have any anti-tabaco campaing. Western society censored tabaco and created a bad image. In Japan they just don't give a shit. Indeed, they often make smoking badass characters.

If you look in the scientific paper posted you will see that don't eat meat isn't what makes you live more. Indeed the populations that live in the world aren't vegetarians.

Most of the reasons are pure baaawww.

Its my theory that it the country as a whole will become more liberal and they will have less of a population/housing/job problem, when all the old prople die and today's kids take over.

I have heard that if you ask the stores sell uncensored versions... I haven't tested it myself and don't know if there is any kind of secret word for this.

Wow cool. What did the people treat you like while you were there?

They were nice. I know that not every place is like that and that there are jerks anywhere in the world but the only serious warning I received were when I ate a piece of chocolate during work (so it was my fault), even when I fucked something by a mistake or an accident they called me and asked in a polite manner. There was only one guy who was always yelling at me, only latter I realized that he speaks yelling all the time with anyone, even in a nice conversation with someone of his ranking (it wasn't because he was mad), latter when I did a mistake he talked in a more normal way about it, so when he is serious about something he doesn't yells.

Another problem I had is that Japanese people almost don't gesticulate. This is a problem since my Japanese is weak.

Japan problems when living there:
* Criminal justice system
* Smoking
* High cost of living
* Japanese are racist against whites

Good reasons to live there
* The Kancho (though some view this as a negative)
* Groping women on the subway (though some view this as a negative)
* Beautiful scenery
* Street cred
